Assisted maintenance : MR application

The Journey

Project Goal

To re-design a HoloLens based solution created for field workers, who are assigned with the maintenance of mineral ore cone crusher. Help them to quickly assess any parameter breach and resolve issue/alerts efficiently while operating from a remote location.

Methodology

During requirement gathering, there were a few problems which were circled out in the usage of this application. There were areas where alternate scenarios were not considered, since this solution was going to be first presented to prospective client, and they may not interact according to the ideal scenario.
A persona was created on which these alternate scenarios were imposed and included in the storyboarding stage, where we also closed the story from end to end, thus fool proofing the experience from all angles
The visual language was also redesigned, keeping the basic structure as it is and making the interactions more intuitive.

Success metrics

Flexibility of experience (even with alternate routes, the end goal won’t change), Intuitive interactions and enhanced visuals.

Journey map

 We drew a quick journey map from the point a user wears the headset, to the time they reach the end of their experience. The soution was created to largely show art of possibility to potential stakeholders therefore its kept focused more towards showcasing the benefits of assistance in MR and less on creating diversions while they are

in the experience.

Crusher Digital Twin_Wireframes and Desi

UI design

Using an unfinished digital render of the crusher model, I created HUD visuals. This phase is important for unity developers and 3D modellers to understand where will the UI panel be positioned and how it will interact with the user. UI should be minimal and color palette usually ranges in hues of blues and greens for a futuristic essence. It needs to be visible in both brightly lit places as well a dark space unless specified otherwise.The environment used in the background is a google stock image.
